Hello!  I’m Simon Fan.  This site is the organic product of my lifelong passion for food and cooking.

My years of living in New York and traveling around the world have enabled me to taste and experiment with diverse and exciting cuisines of different cultures.  Each cuisine I’ve experienced dazzles and inspires me, and each has propelled me to learn more about the people and culture it represents.

This site, however, is devoted to Chinese cuisine, which holds a special place in my heart.

Born and raised in Shanghai, I developed a curiosity in the cuisine of my heritage at a very early age.  That curiosity later on became a passion and has stayed with me ever since, even years after I moved to the US.

I’m forever in awe of the history, breadth, and myriad regional varieties of Chinese cuisine.  I draw endless inspirations from its ingenuity of creating culinary wonders from humble ingredients, such as soybean and rice, both of which first domesticated in China about 5,000 and 12,000 years ago respectively, as well as its mastery of fire and heat through numerous cooking techniques.

The more I explore, the more I realize how much I do not know.  My journey of discovery continues, and I invite you to join me along the way!

Hi Simon, great to know that you have been engaged in Chinese cuisine since your days in Shanghai. Rice and Soybean are also the two essential elements in Japanese cuisine, which I and my family have been indulged in for the last two decades… I am looking forward to having a time to enjoy both with you either in NY, or Atlanta my home. Happy New Year!
